• Summer Exhibition 2019

My grateful thanks to the fourteen club members who, between them, contributed an impressive 208 prints and 9 photoboards that filled the exhibition room in Selsey Town Hall over the weekend from the 24th to the 26th August. The quality of the photographic work on display clearly impressed our 339 visitors over the two and a half days. The audio-visual presentation, once again so expertly compiled by Bryan Whittle to include a whole season's worth of high scoring digital images, also attracted many favourable comments. Clearly this was another very successful summer exhibition.

Here are some of the comments recorded by our visitors:

"Great Exhibition" , "Well done everyone" , "Excellent Exhibition" , "Great inspiration" , "Good Show" , "Very Good – I liked the sunsets", "Brilliant - Thank You" , "Great to see photography on a wall" , "Interesting Exhibition" , "Talent – Thank You"

I would particularly like to thank the stalwart team of members who worked tirelessly setting up the exhibition throughout the previous Friday afternoon, meeting & greeting visitors over the two and a half days, dismounting everything on the Monday afternoon and transporting the display boards over to our new custodians at the Academy Selsey.

Once again, we decided to drop the entry charge to the exhibition and replace it with a voluntary raffle in which visitors were invited to choose to pay £1 for an opportunity to win their favourite print. This certainly proved very popular with 130 tickets sold over the weekend. The winning ticket, drawn on the following club night by our visiting speaker Ken Scott, belonged to Ronelle who had chosen print No 191 "Unique as a Fingerprint" (taken by David Richardson).

Of the 130 tickets sold, the most popular print was one of Dick Read’s and entitled “Lifeboat Station in the Pink”. According to tradition, Dick was presented with a bottle of wine at the first meeting of the new season on the 2nd September.
